The Marshall Style amps

Marshall amps "borrowed" heavily for their initial offerings in the world of amps. Jim Marshall was a drummer, Leo Fender was an electronics repair person, so neither was actually a guitar player. The Fender Bassman amp from the 50's became the basis for the early JTM Marshall amps of the 60's. It was hard, meaning expensive, to get US built amps and guitars in Britain in those years and the demand was growing for British musicians to make a lot of noise. Marshall Amps became the maker of choice for so many of the classic tones we relate to classic rock these days.
My amp building adventures have included just about all of the Marshall classic designs with the focus up through the high gain JCM800 series of amps. After that era, the PCB construction of modern amp production added so many bells and whistles that leaves it me a bit cold. I pretty much leave that to the robotic assembly folks. I stick to the old school stuff.
With so many tweaking and modding options with these amps, I can customize the circuits to meet a wide range of tone needs.
